Okonkwo worked very hard to reestablish a farm in his new village, just as he had to begin with in his old one. He is determined to live a successful life in the new village and be nothing like his father.
Okonkwo had always had a wanting to be a lord of the clan, but that possibility no longer remains. However, he still pushes forward to make the best of his life.
It was said that if your personal god, or chi, was not made for good things then you were not either because you couldn't rise above them.
Uchendu encourages Okonkwo and tells him not to have sorrow for the seven years he is in his motherland.
