Dimmesdale is still overjoyed by the decision that he and Hester made to go to Europe. Hester has the plans made for them to go on a ship to Europe. The minister also considers doing very non religious actions toward the people of Boston because it is his last few days there. Dimmesdale informs Chillingworth that he does not need him anymore and he is to be relieved immediately. Dimmesdale also begins to write his new sermon, the last one he will deliver.
