While Hester and Dimmesdale are in the forest, they begin to sit together and hold hands. Hester tells Dimmesdale that Chillingworth is her husband and the results are less than ideal. Dimmesdale does not take this news well and blames Hester for what he has been going through. Dimmesdale is worries that Chillingworth will tell the people about him, but hester doesn’t think so. She still recommends that Dimmesdale leave Chillingworth’s presence. They decide to go to Europe where they can have their family in peace.
